A Desert in Maine?

What is this place?
You’ve arrived at a nearly 100-year old tourist attraction, which also has a mini golf course and a variety of activities and features that are designed to engage people in the history, geology, and ecology of this unique place.

It’s hard to sum up thousands of years of history into a short and fun explanation so we made a fun, animated history video just for you!
Stay & Play!

One wonderful benefit of staying in our campground is you get discounted access to the Desert of Maine tourist attraction! You have 3 options based on how much you want to experience the tourist attraction for how long:
Free Access: If you just want to experience the beauty of the dunes, you can go for free after 6pm and before 9am. Please note: entry to the exhibits is closed after hours.
Individual Tickets: If you only want to play mini golf or you only want to experience the dunes and exhibits (i.e. general admission), or you only want to go for one day of your multi-day stay, you can buy individual tickets in person or online using your 15% camper discount. If buying tickets online, use the coupon code HAPPYCAMPER. If buying in person, just tell our staff you are staying in the campground and they will apply the discount!
Access to Everything: The best deal by far is to buy our Stay & Play pass which gives you unlimited general admission and unlimited mini golf games for your entire group, for the entire duration of your stay (including your check-in and checkout days). The Stay & Play pass is deeply discounted so campground guests (particularly guests with younger kids who will want to visit the exhibits and ride the train every day!) won't have to stress about the cost of buying tickets every day.
Know Before You Go

-
To access the dunes after hours, walk up to the Welcome Center and take the boardwalk up to the "Wander in Wonder" arch!

-
Read more about accessibility at the Desert of Maine here.

-
We welcome dogs to accompany you while you explore the dunes and exhibits, however please keep them on a leash at all times (and please clean up after them of course)!

-
Only ADA-designated service dogs are allowed on the mini golf course.

Oasis Snack Bar
We have a small snack bar adjacent to the Welcome Center which operates throughout the season with the same hours as the mini golf course. We serve coffee, lemonade, grilled hot dogs, kielbasa, veggie sausages, and scooped ice cream! We also have locally-made baked treats like banana bread and coffee cake. If you need a treat and don’t want to go far, stop by the Oasis!

Beer, Wine, Seltzer, and Cider
Come on up to the Oasis starting at 2pm daily for a cold beer, seltzer, wine, or cider! We serve up until our closing time. Carry your drink with you as you play mini golf, or pair it with an ice cream and relax at our picnic tables.

Please note: We do not allow guests to BYOB up to the tourist attraction, so please do not bring drinks from your campsite up to the golf course, and we cannot permit guests to carry drinks through the dunes.
